sea of colourful lanterns hanging above diners at sanagi shinjuku bar and restaurant

Sanagi Shinjuku

Posted on

Ever dined under an overpass? You can do just that at Sanagi Shinjuku, a pan-Asian bar and restaurant located under a road in Shinjuku.

Magical at night, it features multiple zones, including a tatami room, a gallery room and a lantern-filled ‘outdoor’ space reminiscent of Vietnam. You can dine on share plates of food from across Asia, coupled with a wide selection of alcohol.

While it’s not ‘Japanese’ as such, Sanagi Shinjuku offers a great drinking and dining experience in a colourful, buzzy atmosphere.

Address: 3-35-6 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo

Getting there: 5 minute walk from Shinjuku Station Southeast Exit

Nearby: Bicqlo, BEAMS Japan, Shinjuku Gyoen, Tiki Tiki, Tokyu Hands
