Spiral

Posted on

Great architecture, art, food and shopping all under the one roof? You’ll find that at the Spiral building in Aoyama.

Spiral has been a lifestyle destination since it was built in the 1980’s. It gets its name from a huge spiralling ramp within its atrium that takes visitors from an art gallery and café on the ground floor up to an expansive design store on the first.

It’s a great place to check out a free art exhibition and then have a good shop at Spiral Market, which houses an extensive curated collection of design-forward lifestyle goods, homewares and accessories, many locally-made.

If you’re hungry while you’re there, Spiral Café on the ground floor serves up a delicious and reasonably priced lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Address: 5 Chome-6-23 Minamiaoyama, Minato City, Tokyo

Getting there: In front of Omotesando Station Exit B1

Nearby: Cafe Kitsune, Flying Tiger, Omotesando Hills, Nezu Museum, SunnyHills, Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum
