La Kagu is a massive lifestyle goods store and cafe in Kagurazaka, the ‘French’ district of Tokyo. It’s housed in an old book storage warehouse that has been revamped and ringed in scalloped wooden terraces by Olympic Stadium architect Kengo Kuma.
The ground floor features a cafe serving meals, coffee and sweets plus a women’s fashion section. There’s also an electronics and design goods zone and a lifestyle and interiors department. Upstairs you’ll find men’s fashion goods, mid-century furniture and homewares, plus an extensive selection of books. A cavernous auditorium that holds regular events and exhibitions completes the space.
With its excellent architecture and so many well-curated things under one roof, La Kagu is very worthy of your time.
