Shibuya Parco is a mainstay of the Shibuya shopping scene that relaunched in 2019 after a 2 year renovation.
While a large portion of the store is given over to luxury goods departments, it’s the other quirky aspects of the building that make it worthy of a browse.
The basement level is a rabbit-warren of uniquely designed restaurants that is great for both its atmosphere and for grabbing a casual meal. There’s everything from ramen to burgers to vegan fare on offer, plus a ‘food challenge’ venue called Kome to Circus whose menu of bugs and other bizarre foods is only for the adventurous!
If you’re a fan of gaming, head straight to the sixth floor that houses an official Nintendo store and the Pokemon Centre that specialises in official and exclusive Pokemon merchandise in an inventive space. It’s always teeming with people and great to pick up a unique souvenir.
Outside, you can wind your way up or down the external garden, which features multiple terraces and gardens linked by staircases wrapped around the building. It’s a killer climb-so you might be best to take the escalators up inside then walk back down. It offers nice vantage points and views across the Shibuya district.
Shibuya Parco makes shopping and dining an event, but is equally worthwhile for a walkthrough even if you’re not planning to spend.
