The 2D Cafe in Tokyo’s Shin-Okubo neighbourhood (next to Shinjuku) is drawing crowds for both its delicious bubble teas and its inventive interior.
A lot of care has gone into the cafe’s black and white fitout, with the walls and furniture painted to give the impression that the whole place is a two dimensional illustration. It’s done so well that only the people jostling around the space to find the best spot for a photograph spoil the optical illusion.
The menu of bubble teas on offer is great too, with the hot and cold black molasses tea a crowd favourite. There’s also a selection of juices and Korean-style shaved ice desserts available.
So visit 2D Cafe for an excellent photo opportunity, a tea or dessert, then head out to explore the Shin-Okubo area, which is the ‘Korea-town’ of Tokyo.
