shopping mall atrium featuring large hanging sculpture at Tokyu Plaza Shibuya shopping mall in Tokyo

Tokyu Plaza Shibuya

Posted on

Tokyu Plaza Shibuya is one of several developments in the Shibuya area that opened in late 2019. Designed around the concept of ‘fashion theme park for grown ups’, it aims to offer a more mature shopping experience in Shibuya, an area famous for its thriving youth-fashion culture.

The ‘novelty’ aspects of the mall include a digital hologram of Hachiko, Japan’s most famous dog, in the atrium lobby and Pepper PARLOR, a cafe featuring a staff of robots who serve and entertain the patrons.

Other than that, the mall is a very classy affair, with beautiful warm woodwork and glass throughout its sparkling interior. It houses more than sixty fashion and lifestyle stores and dining options across its 18 floors.

Dining establishments of note are Kyoto Uji Fujiimeie, a tea house featuring Kyoto’s best macha (green tea) with sweet and savoury accompaniments and Cé La Vi – a luxury bar, restaurant, club and rooftop terrace housed over two levels at the top of the building.

Tokyu Plaza Shibuya is worth exploring for its great design, the variety of shopping on offer and its good selection of eating and drinking venues. Stop by at least to take a photo of digital Hachi once you’ve visited the bronze Hachi statue, which is located nearby.
