Tokyo City View is one of the best places to see Tokyo from above. The 360-degree observation deck wraps around the 52nd floor of Mori Tower, a massive skyscraper that is the centrepiece of the Roppongi Hills commercial, residential and entertainment development.
Tokyo City View is a lofty space with very tall windows, offering breathtaking views out of Tokyo in all directions. Accessing it is part of the fun, as you ride a super-fast elevator with lighting that changes colour the closer you get to the top.
Coupled with the views, there’s a café along the walking course offering light refreshments and a souvenir gift shop. Pop-up exhibitions on a wide range of pop-culture themes are also held regularly in the space.
For an added fee, in good weather, you can head up to Sky Deck on the roof of the building to view the city in the open air. The rooftop features a helipad and multiple platforms that let you look out at the city from multiple angles.
Tokyo City View is open late most nights, so you can opt to take in the views during the day or after dark. If you time your visit for just before sunset, you can see the best of both.
Combine your visit with an exhibition at the Mori Art Museum (one floor above) and the shops and restaurants of Roppongi Hills mall at the base of the tower.
