The Nezu Museum, just beyond the top end of the Omotesando shopping strip, has something for everyone. Founded by a Japanese rail magnate, it houses his large private collection of Japanese and Asian art antiquities. But there’s a lot more to it than that.
For architecture aficionados, there’s the beauty and simplicity of the Kengo Kuma designed building. While for nature lovers, there’s a large and picturesque Japanese garden in a gulley behind the museum. Its walking paths flank a peaceful pond and there’s also a tea house where you can participate in a tea ceremony.
Meanwhile, for food lovers, the Nezu Museum offers up NEZUCAFE. Its a sleek glass-boxed cafe that sits atop the garden, overlooking the greenery below. It serves a combination of western style lunch dishes and Japanese inspired matcha tea and sweets sets.
In addition, there’s a gift shop on the premises. If ancient artefacts aren’t your thing, it’s worth the admission price alone just for access to the Nezu Museum garden and NEZUCAFE.
