Ginza Six is a luxury shopping mall in Ginza. Aside from the 240 high-end stores and food hall on offer, its notable for the multiple contemporary art installations positioned throughout its multiple levels and its pleasant rooftop garden.
The atrium of Ginza Six plays host to a changing display of contemporary art hanging from the rooftop. When it opened, numerous red and white polka-dotted pumpkins by famous Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama floated in the lofty space.
Permanent artworks to seek out include a digital waterfall by Japanese art collective teamlab and others by Japanese artists Shinji Ohmaki, Misa Funai, and Yuumi Domoto.
The Ginza Six building itself is beautiful, featuring architecture inspired by Japanese sunshades and an impressive living ‘green’ wall. Be sure to venture up to the rooftop too for a quieter escape and excellent views across the Ginza district.
